Roderick has pledged to provide visionary yet practical leadership to shake the City Council out of its climate complacency and develop innovative new policies and tools to lead Seattle not just to carbon neutrality but, in his words, to "become a carbon sink." Roderick's priorities include investing in rail infrastructure for neighborhood to neighborhood transit, and using Seattle as a pilot city for new technologies like utility-scale batteries. He wants the Council to provide leadership on environmental policies at the state and national level that reduce carbon emissions, and wants the City to begin developing an alternative to the SR 99 tunnel project.
